Description

An updated read on William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, Gil Junger's 10 Things I Hate About You is a teen comedy about two sisters on opposite ends of the social spectrum: one is pretty and popular, the older sister is bitter and vengeful. Family rules dictate that the younger sibling can't date until the older one has. You see where this is going. The soundtrack features Letters to Cleo in a '70s mood covering Cheap Trick's "I Want You to Want Me" and Nick Lowe's "Cruel to Be Kind." Sweden's Cardigans include a rare B-side, "War." George Clinton's "Atomic Dog," Joan Armatrading's "The Weakness in Me," and Madness's "Wings of a Dove" still sound fresh. The only real misstep is Sister Hazel's "Your Winter," which sounds like a Seven Mary Three parody, full of breast-beating sincerity and lyrics that defy the laws of coherence. --Rob O'Connor

Summary: "Very happy with this album"

I am very happy with this album and the price. I could not find this album on itunes or on Amazon as an mp3 download. I bought the actual disc for under $2.00 so that was quite a steal, very happy.

Summary: "As another reviewer said, missing some critical songs"

I love the songs that are on here, but as the other reviewer said, a few key ones are glaringly missing. Other than that, great cd.

Summary: "I love it! My fav!"

I love this cd. Its the best soundtrack I own. I am so glad I bought it. I just wish there was a soundtrack to "Ten things I hate about you" that included all the songs from the movies cause they are all great. I wish they included the song sung by Heath Ledger.
I love " letters to cleo" " save ferris" and "sister hazel. you have to buy this album. its worth the momey and more. I always play it when i clean house.

Summary: "Good music"

I'm not a big music person, but since I saw this movie 7 years ago, I have enjoyed the music, especially those songs sung by Letters to Cleo. Not all of the sings that are in the movie are on this soundtrack, however, and that was disappointing because I enjoyed every song that was left out. But this is a great compilation with a lot of great music, and I recommend it!

Summary: "10 Things I Hate About You"

If you are considering purchasing this because you thought that the music in the movie was excellent...do yourself a favor and resist that urge. You will be disappointed. Most of the selections from the cd come from party scenes, or scenes where the music is not the showcase.

Really, considering all the great music in the movie...this was a really poor selection. There are two or three decent tracks, but not enough to redeem the disc or capture the fun of the movie.

Putting the remake of the classic "I Want You To Want Me" first on the disc is also a poor choice. In the movie it seems like a fresh take on a really good song and a fitting ending. On the disc, it just made me want to listen to the original Cheap Trick version.

I would suggest looking for discs from the particular Artists who made contributions to the movie. I was truly disappointed.
